Once a sale event exists, the "What's discounted" card on its detail page is where you tell SalePilot which products get a percentage off, and by how much. This guide covers that card: the discount rules table, and the "Add a discount" form for the three percentage-off discount types. (A separate article, Quantity-break discount rules (buy more, save more) in SalePilot, covers the fourth discount type, quantity break rules.)

Finding the "What's discounted" card

  1. Open a sale event from the Sale Events list (click its name). The detail page is headed with the sale event's own name.
  2. Scroll to the "What's discounted" section. Everything here lives inside one merged card titled "Added discounts" — it holds both the list of discount rules you've already added, and the form to add another.

The discount rules table

  1. At the top of the "Added discounts" card is a table of every discount rule added to this sale so far. Its columns are: Type, Applies to, Amount, State, Actions.

  1. The Type column shows one of four possible rule types (this article covers the first three):
  1. The State column shows one of these labels for each rule:
    • "Not applied yet"
    • "Applied"
    • "Superseded — lost to another rule, never went live" (this rule lost an overlap to a deeper discount on the same variant)
    • "Reverted"
    • "Couldn't apply — see the result above"

  1. The Actions column shows two buttons on every row, regardless of its status:
    • "Revert" — undoes just this one rule.
    • "Delete" — removes the rule. Either action can be refused by the server — for example, if an applied rule is tied to real price history. If that happens, the reason prints inline under the row.

How to add a percentage-off discount

  1. Below the rules table, find the "Add a discount" form. Its first field is a choice list labeled "Discount type", offering four options, each shown with its own one-line explanation in the app. This article covers the first three:
    • "Percentage off a collection" — "Discounts every variant in the collection while the sale runs, then restores prices on revert."
    • "Percentage off specific products" — "Same as a collection sale, but only for products you pick by hand."
    • "Percentage off specific variants" — "Same again, but at the variant level — for example the remaining sizes of a run, or a single discontinued colour."

Percentage off a collection

  1. Select "Percentage off a collection". Two fields appear:
    • "Percentage off" — defaults to 20%.
    • "Collection" picker — choose the collection to discount.

Percentage off specific products

  1. Select "Percentage off specific products". Two fields appear:
    • "Percentage off" — defaults to 20%.
    • "Products" picker — pick individual products to discount.

Percentage off specific variants

  1. Select "Percentage off specific variants". Two fields appear:
    • "Percentage off" — defaults to 20%.
    • "Variants" picker — pick individual variants to discount.
    • A note appears with this option: "Storefront grid cards usually show only the default variant's price, so this discount may not be visible until a shopper opens the product. That's normal theme behaviour, not something SalePilot controls."

Saving the discount rule

  1. Once you've filled in the fields for your chosen type, click "Add rule" to save it to the sale event.

  1. If a required picker is left empty, the "Add rule" button stays disabled and shows an inline reason instead of saving:
    • "Choose a collection to add this discount."
    • "Choose at least one product to add this discount."
    • "Choose at least one variant to add this discount."
